A busy start to 2025
From key industry events across three continents to new offices and strategic partnerships, we’ve been busy connecting, expanding, and championing smarter, safer maritime operations through Structural Health Monitoring. Catch up on all the highlights and see what’s driving momentum as we head into the rest of the year.

Q1 has been a fantastic start to the year for Light Structures, with plenty of travel, new partnerships, and valuable face-to-face meetings around the world. From North America to Australia and everywhere in between, we’ve been strengthening relationships, expanding our presence, and championing the role of Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) in making maritime and offshore operations safer and smarter.
January set the tone for the quarter with our participation at the Surface Navy Association (SNA) Symposium. It was great to connect with naval professionals and showcase how SHM supports operational readiness and vessel longevity. We also continued our support for the maritime engineering community as proud sponsors of the CIMarE Great Lakes Branch AGM, celebrating the next generation of marine professionals and sharing important conversations around safety. Huge thanks to Randall McGregor for representing Light Structures at the event!
February was a busy month with our team attending key events like Navy Tech Finland and the Dubai International Boat Show. It was energising to connect with global stakeholders and discuss how structural monitoring is evolving across both naval and leisure sectors. February also marked a significant milestone as we visited our new office in Newark, Delaware, further strengthening our footprint in the U.S. and enhancing support for clients across the Americas.
March brought two highlights that underline our focus on collaboration and strategic growth. We were honoured to visit CIMC Raffles in China alongside our valued partner Hoi Tung. The conversations were rich with insight and possibility—exactly the kind of collaboration that drives our mission forward. We also started a partnership in Australia, with Pulse Technology Hub in Perth.
April: Our agent Brian Perkins represented Light Structures at Sea-Air-Space 2025, the premier maritime exposition in the U.S., organised by the Navy League of the United States. Held at National Harbor, Maryland, Sea-Air-Space is the leading event for naval and defence maritime innovation, attracting top military decision-makers and industry leaders from around the world. The naval sector is a key market for Light Structures, with Smart Structural Health Monitoring (Smart SHM) playing a key role in enhancing operational readiness, safety, and asset longevity for naval fleets.
